I've really enjoyed my old school Penn 505HS (high speed) which have been magged. I also have or had Penn 535, 545, and 555's. I've had all three model magged.  All four of the reels make great heavy heavers. You can find great 505HS reels on ebay. Hope this helps, Noel

Eagle Claw L197 2/0 for most applications is the ticket. When the water is cold like it is here in N E Fl right now I'll drop down in size to the Owner Mutu Light #2. This small hook will put more Whiting on the beach. I also like the hook Brad just mentioned. Especially if the Bluefish show up. ...

Raymo, The top of the foot peg is at 15" which will allow you to bury the tip to 15". This is more than adequate to catch even the largest of fish.
