Someone just recently floated the story that Joe was just too naive to understand. I thought that was a great make believe story.

He loved the team and what he meant to it. I guess he was afraid that any revelation of the events would hurt that, so he was fine with how things went. But things have a way of evening out- the balance tips first one way then the other. He lost the thing he loved. Call it karma or the Great Equalizer.

 Joe, and apparently several others, could have saved a pile of kids from having to learn that you can't say no to Jerry when you are only ten years old. It is truely sad that they allowed him to continue. They knew what he had done, and was doing, and they stood by and let him run his little charity. They said nothing when he was standing there on the sidelines with yet another new boy. Joe did not keep shut up to protect his friend.....it was all about the fact that those kids really didn't matter to him.

I am glad that he lived long enough to see this come out. I hope he learned from it and asked.
