fishing advice  (N/A)

Hello Fellas

I have no idea where to post or ask questions but this blank space showed up and i thought i'd put ink on it.

My name is Dave and it's my first day of what i hope will be the rest of my winters here in Jensen Beach. I've recently retired and my wife and i moved from the mid west to the Ozarks ( summer months) .We will be spending Jan through March here in Jensen Beach . I was a guide in northern Iowa years ago and fish daily in the Ozarks but have no (zip-none-nada)  knowledge of salt water fishing. It is my intention to shore/surf fish and possibly within shouting distance in a small boat. I am looking for some guidance into the basics. I'm not targeting any one species and am really looking for bait tips ,specific artificial's if you  use them , line suggestions etc. I understand that's a 'flock shoot' as they say but i would certainly appreciate any tips other then being told to go home that you would send my way. They call me Hooker among other things but i'll bite on anything. Dave, David , Rookie .

 Thank You

Dave, if you want to get a solid base for surf fishing in Florida, the best thing you can do is attend Jeff Rafter's surf fishing classes. The information is posted in the forum at the top of the first page. Jeff will teach you everything you need to know, you'll get some hands-on experience, plus you will get an opportunity to meet some of the best surf fishermen around. Not your typical classroom "learnin'". I took all of Jeff's classes and had a blast...learned almost more than I could retain, nice handouts, great camaraderie. Wecome to Florida!

Hooker, Jeffs course would be a great way to start. There is a lot to learn about surf fishing, think about fishing where you come from, because of knowledge about fishing a few people catch most of the fish and most people go home thinking the fish just were not biting that day. Surf fishing is no different. Ken

Hi Hooker you are at a "GREAT" spot this time of year (Jensen Beach). One of my favorite spots Tiger Shores on A1A in Jensen Beach & there are alot more spots along A1A there. Take some frozen clams & bait thread, fresh dead shrimp & just spend some time and it won't take you long to learn what is biting and what the fish like to eat. JUST GO. a lot better than watching tv. I wish I was there. I live in N.E. FLA. Most surf fisherman are friendly and will give you advice. Bob
