Yeah its been a while since my last post...

3-14 Sunday    So its early in the morning, about 5:00am, just turned onto gulf shores drive in Destin, almost there... and whats that? Blue lights. WTF? 20 mins later and a lecture on why its important to come to a COMPLETE stop at all stop signs I get under way again.

I finally make it out to the rocks, and as Im setting up I notice someone is already hooked up. It turns out to be a bull red, so I changed my lure from a pompano jig to a Rapala silver sliver. Ignoring the fact that I'm using light tackle spooled with only 10lb line. Second cast and I'm hooked up... 20 mins later and a broken fishing pole (good thing I brought an extra) I land a 34" bull red. The days final tally: 4 reds over 30", one measuring 41" and  weighed somewhere in the range of 25 to 30lbs. By 7am the bite dies down and the reds move out into deeper water chasing the bait fish.

It was a shame to go home empty handed after breaking a pole and losing a lure but I think it was an even trade in the end.

Mark
