St George Island  (N/A)
Was down at St. George Island this past weekend for my anniversary and managed to get in a little fishing.  Saturday was a little cool with some rough seas, but Sunday was unbelievable.   Caught 38 Keeper whiting combined over the two days.   Had enough to share with my family and have the inlaws over for a fish fry/Super Bowl party Sunday night.  Love those fried whiting!  Can't wait for spring!

No Pompano?? This warm weather/water has kept them around.

Nice catch of whiting. Some mighty good eating there! C2

Two Pompano on Sunday... both very small so I released them.   The water was stirred up from all of the wave action on Saturday so that may have been a factor.   Looking to go back in a couple of weeks.

A couple of weeks can change things quite a bit. If we have prevailing South winds, it will blow the warm water(and fish) closer to shore.

Tight lines. C2

Hi all...Staying in a beach house outside St.George Island East State Park, gulfside in early May 2012.  Noobie here,  but well read on Surf Fishing.   In short...will I have any luck if I drift in a Kayak outside the sand bar throwing gold/silver spoons?  Or bouncing Pompano jigs off the bottom?  Any ideas about cut bait in same area, adrift.     OR heheheh , should I just sit in a beach chair with a straight line bait rig into the Surf and relax.

mid-west bass rangler says thanks!!
