Wow, what a nice area.  Kings were said to be caught early in am off pier but I never saw any fish of any worth landed in the 4 hours I was there. Too many people on the beach to surf fish.  I caught plenty small blue runners and v.small blacktips.  I did see alot of guys using a small clear plastic bubble float 1/2 filled with water for neutral buoyancy with a gottcha on a wire leader.  Really helped them zing it out there  a lot further than just a gotcha would allow.  Did not see any spanish mackerels caught but plenty of guys chugging the above rig.         I would think it would work for the surf using a mirrolure  or bucktail also.
