Well, this isn't really a surf fishing report but I'm a fisherman and I like to tell stories...mostly true ones.
I missed the banquet Saturday night to spend some time with my brother and nephew in Ft. Myers. He has a bay boat and I got to enjoy some flats fishing. Despite the threats of TS Bonnie, we had a wonderful two days fishing the Ft Myers area around Pine Island. Here are some photo's...
First Gag Grouper (17") catch and release...

A wonderful sunset in SW Florida...fished from 6:30am until the sun went down.

Day two...one cast net's worth of bait! I've never seen so much pulled in from one cast. Greenbacks, threadfins, and one redfish.

The keepers from day two...also caught a nice Bonnethead on one of the bigger bait fish. Sea Trout and Mangrove Snapper...just finish eating them

One story I have to tell because I think it differentiates everyone I've met via this club from other knowledgable fishermen. We stop at Bert's waterside restaurant for lunch and a guy sits at the table next to us. I notice he is wearing a guide shirt so I ask him where they're biting. I wasn't expecting a secret hole or exact coordinates but a general "try the north tip of island so and so with live bait" would have been nice. His response was a smerky "out in the water". His name was Capt. Truitt or something like that. So, if you are in the Ft. Myers area and want a down to earth guide, he is not the guy!
