Will be in Boca Raton area for a week in early April, how is the surfishing that time of year? What species should we target? Fished for a few days in late December, nothing but Blue Runners. Any advice would be appreciated.

Zackdog... that's a good time of year for pompano!  Fish the beaches at sunrise or sunset with sand fleas or fresh shrimp using a "pompano rig" and enough weight to hold your bait in one spot.  You can get all you need at 7 Seas Bait & Tackle on the NE corner of Glades Rd and NE 2nd Ave in Boca.  :-)  Remember... beautiful beach days are usually not so hot for fishing; on the other hand windy, cloudy days are often good fishing days.  :-)

Hi ya all, I'm new to this game, less then a year down here on the treasure coast, but I was under the impression the pomps were gone by this time of year.....My last two times out, fort pierce area, no hits on clam or fleas, getting a few whiting....

Treasure Coast area general time for pomps is Thanksgiving to Easter. Best time probably late Jan, Feb, early March. Further South here in Boca Raton best time is late Feb thru mid-April. But, it varies each year. This year, most pomps didn't make it past Cape Canaveral since we didn't get enuf cold weather to push them South. So, they are not here in great numbers.
