While trying to catch bait with shrimp to then target tarpon, I figured I would send out some fleas for permit...
Got a moharra to free-line and was reeling in my other rod when a couple quick ZZZZZZZZZ ,  ZZZZZZZZZZ from the AFAW Surf wih fleas...
Tightened up and off it ran... this was the toughest fighting permit so far... I had a pomp rig on since I didn' have any of my beefed-up permit rigs ready so I had to go easy on it... very smart fish... as I got it to the shallows (almost low tide) usually I can pull a bit harder when the wave comes by to help pull it up closer to shore, but this fish would run every time a wave came by since it had more water in which to swim.  It ran 3 times back over the sand bar!  I thought for sure the 30# snood would break, or the Mutu Lite would bend in this 20 min fight, but I got it to the beach.  (Hooks looked fine, by the way.)

29" and 19# caught on frozen fleas on pomp rig with AFAW Surf, 525mag, 17# Sufix Tritanium Plus line.

A wise man once told me,if you eat more then 6lbs of permit a year it will take 3 years off your life span.

It might be a good idea to Fed EX some of those filets up this way so you'll live longer and be able to catch more fish.
