I was out this afternoon hunting sand fleas on Ft. Lauderdale beach.  There was a guy with only one rod (I didnt even bring my rods) and he had some real nice pomps.  He said he has been getting them all week there.

Hey Guys, first time wrining in for a short time member. I was fishing off Ft. Lauderdale beach this am and landed a fish I was not familiar with. It looked like a pompano, but had realy long dorsal and "bottom" fins. It was about 10 inches long from nose to tail. I released it not knowing what it was. I've been an offshore and bay fishing and never seen this before. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture. Any ideas?

Could it have been a baby permit,they have longer dorsal fins and more of a fork in the tail.
