I live in Cape Canaveral, and have been going to the beach at Jefferson Avenue for the past few months.  I go out after work a few days a week, and try to put in a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday.  I fish with live shrimp, frozen shrimp, cut mullet, clams, sandfleas, but I barely catch anything... Ever.  I go at high tide, low tide, incoming tide, outgoing tide.  Nothing.  In the past 2 months or so, I've caught 2 reds (not keepers), 1 jack, 2 stingrays.  What the heck am I doing wrong?  I was thinking about heading closer to the Jetty or towards the pier.  Anybody have any ideas/tips you can offer?  I want to catch some fish!

I see a few things you are doing right ... You keep trying, you are varying your baits, going to try a new location.
Might want to check out Captain Jeff's classes ... they start Saturday ... see info elsewhere in the forum. He can get you headed in the right direction. Sounds like what you need to be doin is figuring out where the fish are hanging out ... i.e., how to read the beach ... how to tell where the runouts are, where the bars are (sand bars ), how to use the tide and current to your advantage, etc.
the main thing is ... keep trying. Ask at local bait stores what bait is catching what fish. and where. Ask people on the beach that are catching fish, what they are doing differently than you. (don't go set up and fish next to them unless they invite you ...)
Maybe you are using the wrong rigs ... there are a lot of variables that come in to play. Just takes practice and patience.
Good luck.

I fish a few streets down from you. I agree with Mr. RSALLAS that you are on the right track. Would you like to meet this weekend for a surf fishing outting. I can meet you anywhere along Cocoa Beach.

Huetherb, Like every one else says You are doing a lot of things right. One question when you reel in your line is your bait still there. cocoa Ken
