To all who love fresh fillets,

Fished Ponce De Leon beach (0630-1600) and caught a 12" pomp on shrimp.  I witnessed a gent catching pomps/whiting every cast with clams (he finished with 3 legal pomps and enough whiting for a "fish fry"...  All bites ceased after 1130AM and me and my son ran for cover at 4:00PM from a fierce looking thunderstorm...

OBTW, the fleas were out in full force...I saw numerous pods around 1200 and managed to collect quite a few with ease.  The best part of the day was watching small (4-5") whiting in the wash trying to find fleas that had been exposed...way cool!

Over the last two weekends; I have caught pompano at Canova and Ponce De Leon...water temps are up and the the surf has been clear...get out there and put your reports here...

Buckeye,

Good on ya!  Are you fishing the beach just south of the inlet?  What did you get your pomp on?  Did you catch anything else?  The pomp bite was steady for the gent that had clams at PDL...also the guy with clams caught about 7 whiting...I didn't catch any whiting just the one pomp...

Oh well, my son and I will fight over the scraps tonight when I cook him up...alittle "pomp snack" to get us back out there soonest...

Questions, questions.. here goes- I was fishing the first parking lot with facilities just south of the inlet.. frozen shrimp.. i ended up with a black drum and about a dozen whiting, enough for a nice fish fry. I had stopped buying clams earlier this summer after the pomps disappeared, but i will put them back on the menu.

I saw some sand fleas a few weeks ago at Sebastian, but have not seen any since. Just been using shrimp.

Buckeye,

Appreciate the good intel...I've fished there before and the trough is right by the beach and DEEEEP...  I'm re-arming with clams as well (pomps seem to prefer them and other goodies like them too...)  There were fleas aplenty at PDL...Saturday...can't say where those little critters will be next time I get out.  OBTW, Black Dog bait and tackle has live fleas right now...(check your bag before leaving the store...they gave me a bag full of dead ones SAT AM)...
