Thanks a lot!  I'm always looking for tips to improve the catching part of fishing (albeit just fishing is great too). When the kids were little, it was a great way to spend some time at the beach with them and my son (now 27) is all over surf fishing - he invited me back out.  Been doing mostly deep sea out of Sebastian with a friend but that slows during the oppressive summer heat and I'm starting to enjoy being at the surf even more these days.  I'm working on laying out locations based on the tides and the time of day. On off days, I like to get out around dawn and can even get a few hours in at dusk during work days... Any other suggestions you'd care to share would be greatly appreciated. Since I'm right between the Melbourne and Eau Gallie causeways, travel North and South is never really an issue. To date (since my restart), I have been down to Ponce DeLeon and as far North as Patrick trying my hand at different spots. I spend some time just traveling to the beach to look for the other likely "locals" to get a better idea as to when they go, what they're catching and what bait/rigs are being used.  Got some tips from "old-timers" many years back but really need a refresh...

Very much appreciate your help.

I'm usually out with a straw ten-gallon hat (getting pretty ragged) and a 12' Tsunami rod of late. If you happen to spot me, stop by for a cold one...

Buckeye,

Went to Canova Bch Sat AM and got 6 whiting and one 12" pomp...  Around high tide (1130 AM) and guy came out and threw out two poles with dead shrimp and BAM!...two nice pomps!  The highlight of my trip was catching my first snook in the surf (on dead shrimp)!  He was about 24" and was safely returned to the ocean  It was a wonderful day to get back out to the surf and get on the "pomp" scoreboard
