If there are any Florida Surfcasters in or around Melbourne, please consider volunteereing in the worthwhile program.  It is only about 4 hours of your time and very rewarding (so I'm told),  If it didn't start so early 3+ hours from Jacksonville, I'd be there.

Volunteers Needed For First  Melbourne Beach Hook Kids Hook Kids on Fishing program Saturday morning, 7 am -to-11 am,  June 19, 2010

 
Volunteers should show up at 7 am Saturday, June 19, for the first Melbourne Beach Hook Kids program at Ryckman Park's Melbourne Beach Pier. The pier is located at the west end of Ocean Ave., We could use your help!
 
Volunteers are needed to assist with teaching kids casting, fishing techniques, habitat restoration, conservation, fishing safety, knot tying, catch and release tactics.

The Hook Kids on Fishing program, is a education product of the Anglers for Conservation (AFC), a non-profit-501-C3 serving fishing communities with an emphasis on conservation, education, and habitat restoration. The AFC mission is to create new generations of coastal stewards using community-based angling education, habitat restoration, and applied conservation science.
