Grady Bridge Outing  (N/A) Modified By fschost on 8/15/2010 2:20:59 PM

Our club outing for this month was on the Grady Bridge at Nassau Sound.  We all met up around 6 PM and headed out onto the bridge. Alex and I brought an extra cart loaded with my BBQ grill.  Set the rods up and commenced grilling sausage and hotdogs. As I was consuming a cold beverage and a hotdog, my Penn Slammer rod tip jiggled!  I grabbed the rod and set the drag and the pole bent straight down.  After several minutes I was finally able to see it was a fairly good sized black drum!  Thanks to Lyndon for having the bridge net close by!  The drum weighed in at 18 pounds 8 ounes and was 32 inches in length.  The rest of the evening was somewhat quiet for me, although I did have another fish cut the line as he headed undder the bridge.  Fish was caught on a fishfinder rig, 10 ounce egg sinker with a 6/0 Owners hook.  Lots of foods, drinks and great company! A few other fish were caught, but I'll let everyone else chim in with thier story.

Nice fish Jerry....and it was a good outing.  What was lacking in fish quantity was made up for in friendship and visiting quality. Don't know the exact count, but there were perhaps 20 members/family in attendance.

Thanks , Lyndon for setting up the outing ... next time, more fish ... but we could have gone to the beach and caught just as many ... :-)  The important thing is the group getting together, sharing stories and ideas and eating hot dogs.  I can say I enjoyed the evening ... even though all I hauled in was a toadfish, a small shark, and a little whiting ...

Fun time, looking forward to the next group outing.

Roger

I also enjoyed the outing because of the company of others in the club.  Thanks to Lyndon for showing me how to make crab knuckles and a big thanks Jerry for the hot dogs.
