FM,

Thanks for the Hi-Flights. They load my rod easily and don't budge in heavy current. The bait clip is a nice feature. My wife especially likes the Orange and Blue color scheme. Not to keen on the gold T

BTW, I PM'd you Thanks

I received your PM and back at yah.

The red and yellah is for them FSU fans. I told you that. Everybody else is gonna be Gators anyways.

The glow in the dark ones- did you try them out ?

They look like cyalume light sticks in the bottom of my hot tub. Got that whole lime green slime look about them. The effect travels out from them quite nicely.

BTW- folks these things are too hard to make. I poured fifty sinkers the other day, and now have to paint and assemble wires and such, and assemble other stuff again. What doesn't sell at the banquet is going to stay with me so I never have to do it again. I'm bringing about 1oo of them. 10 will be FSU colors, and I pray they sell.

I might change my mind later, but I don't plan on mailing any out. I have so many other things I could be doing with my time. I apologize now so you won't ask later. I am still fascinated with all stuff surf fishing. Probably spend my energies fine tuning my hybrid surf spike or something. Too involved them sinkers are.

Like all geniuses....slightly ahead of my time.

My old lady didn't care for that line either.

I am going to follow through though...on what I set about doing. I am going to fix a very old problem. Sinkers.

That's right. Tell you now, I have made some plans to make a sinker that is high quality, easy to manipulate, works well, and is easy for me to do. The design is based on a very old style. It has some modern tweaks and is a little better than before. It will have the standard old wires you see on all the others, remain unpainted, and will eliminate the need for clips to attach the sinker. Your swivel will attach. I can simply pour these and assemble and sell.

The price will be less than five dollars.

Many of the charter members will recognise the shape, and I am proud to make them available to you. Them old moulds have been around here for many years, and I have asked, and wasn't able to get any from them. I am going to try to offer club members all they want.

The Hi-Flight sinkers are special.....if you don't need special......I got.

Hope to be able to cast and form a few in time for the banquet. I think you will like.

....and Terry- lets go fishing again.

Okie Dokie now.....I have cast and formed up about forty of the new variety. They are sweet and weigh-in at 125 grams, which is 4 1/2 ounces. Not much sense going any lighter than that, especially when using circle hooks. I predict that these will be a smashing success and that they will be very popular.

Here is a shot

You can see that the tail wire is bent to include a bait clip. This allows you to use it with pulley rigs and other clip down varieties. The wire IS NOT high quality stainless steel though, but rather zinc coated steel. That means you should rinse them down when you rinse down your other equipment at the end of the day. I may try to get some marine grade stainless, but suspect these will be just fine. You are more apt to loose them than have one rust to death.

That baitclip is also special in that you do not have to use sinker clips and such to attach it. A plain old swivel will slide on. You would tie one end to your rig and ease the other end over the end of the tail wire, and then pull. It will pop right past the curves and into position. There is enough stress there to keep the swivel from sliding back off, until you wish it to do so.

The long length means it will lie flat on the seafloor, and it should not roll or tumble or otherwise move around. The basic design is an old one and has been proven over the years to be a great one.

The shape of the head is an ogive, which means it is aerodynamic and will cast very nicely. There is no base drag to slow you down with these sinkers.

There are no flashings left over from the casting process, they are clean and the sprue is flush and they have the weight clearly stamped onto the side.

These sinkers are far easier to make than the Hi-Flight sinkers, contain less costly materials, and therefor will be less expensive to buy. Apparently fishermen are tight with their money, and no doubt, would complain if they only cost a quarter. But the cost will be competitive with the sinkers you find in the baitshops and I guarantee you these will out perform that junk any day of the year.

You don't have to pay premium prices for garbage, when you can pay me premium prices for the good stuff.

Perfect for the Earl Brinn style rigs. You only need two hooks, two swivels and some line. This mimizes your costs and your presentation to the fish. You should always have a swivel attached to the sinker. Not so the rig doesn't foul while casting or fishing, but because it will foul during the retreive. As you reel in ANY SINKER will roll around, and that twists your rigs.

I shall have about thirty of them with me at the banquet, and will have settled on the price by then. I am also bringing just 85 of the Hi-Flights. Bring cash money and get them while they last.

Paul,

If and when you go out of the sinker business, would you consider telling us what /whose mold you used,. and sources and descriptions of the other parts? I've been making Gemini sinkers with their mold and kit  parts , so I can probably make ones like you designed. See you Saturday evening to buy some of yours.
