Bud, Tell us more. Did you make the tool? How did it work?

Even if you don't catch fish you're still at the beach. It's a Win Win!

Re: hookectomy  (N/A)

looks kind of like a screw eye on the end of a broom stick. simple but effective ...might want a longer pole for them bigger jaws ...

Re: hookectomy  (N/A)

It is, indeed made from a dowel or broomstick with a wire hook inserted in the end. I use the bails from 5 gallon dry well buckets cut to size. They're plenty sturdy. I do make mine with long handles.

Ask Steve Austin about one. He saw mine in action(on catfish) when he and Lyndon were over here.

Don't make just a hook. Make a 'S' hook in the wire. You can then push or pull as required to unhook the fish. My hands never touch! C2

Re: hookectomy  (N/A)

Thats all it is, an eye screw bent open in a wooden dowel. It works well on large toothy mouths, but the next model will have a longer eye screw to work on smaller critters. Other changes might be a rubber grip and a wrist lanyard. I slide the eye over the hook, pull the leader to the left, pull and twist the hook to the right at the same time. I looked at the price on the large ARC Dehooker and decided to try making my own.
