Eating Blacktips  (N/A) Modified By anb5 on 7/22/2010 7:21:40 AM

Heading to Cresent  beach soon . I was wondering  are  the blacktips really good eating? If so are they better fried up or some other way? Or should I just throw them back.

My family enjoys them two ways. Before you get to the cooking is beach care. Kill them quickly, remove the head, tail, and belly. Wash the body off in the surf and them bury it under alot of ice. At the house filet it and remove any red meat. Now for the cooking.

If your going to fry cut into shark mcnuggets. appx 2" x 2" x 1". Then soak in milk overnight. This will remove any strong smell that comes from the SKIN. Then fry your favorite way.

If your going to grill marinade in your favorite sauce for one hour. We use Kraft Zesty Itlalian.

Which ever way you cook it the only thing you can do wrong is over cook it. It gets chewy. If you cook it right its like a very tender pork chop with a mild fish flavor.

Enjoy, Noel

Even if you don't catch fish you're still at the beach. It's a Win Win!

When you remove the head/tail/belly what do you do with it? throw it back in the surf?

Here is a great recipe I've used with Blacktips in the past.  Enjoy!
