Howdy!  I'm thinkin' of taking the kids up to see the shuttle launch 8pm on Fri, Nov 14th.  We're not gonna get tickets, so I figured we might as well fish on Cocoa Beach while waiting for the launch, and if it doesn't take off that night, well, at least we had a nice fishin' trip!

I've never fished Cocoa Beach before.... anyone got a recommended area?
I figured we'd try for pomps, at least until the sun goes down.

After the sun goes down, of course there's sharks to seek, but what else would be a good after-sunset target, and what would be the recommended bait/rig?

Anyone else thinkin' of fishin' Cocoa that same evening?

Thanks!

A couple years ago we had a couple people,(Millet comes to mind for some reason) fish the area just south of the Jetty Park Maritime Park. The streets were named after Dead Presidents,Tyler,Polk and Pierce and they had good luck with pompano and big bluefish during the daytime. You might have to check if they close down any areas for the launch.Back in the olden days around 1974 you could feel the ground shake when they blasted rockets off.

I'll throw in a picture of Millet with her 31" bluefish.

Let's hope you don't leave too early(tournament ) and miss the launch.

Ahh, yes, Jim, I miss Millet same as you. I understand she had an affinity for fishing with mature, follicley-challenged men.

Well, I tried Todd's way and only get a RED X so I'm going to see if my boy can help out.
