Big reds  (N/A)

Do you folks ever get the giant redfish? I would love to get into the big bruisers. We get them here in the panhandle, but from boats. Not as much fun as the surf. In a boat you can chase them. From the beach you need skill and cunning to coax the big fellas in. Comments?

Re: Big reds  (N/A)

I have caught 3 that were pushing 50 lbs in the last 3 yrs from the beach. All were caught in fall and winter on just shrimp by accident . But I'll take'em any way they get on my line. In the fall at Hugenot Park on the St. Johns River in North Jacksonville  you can catch'em from the shore nearly that big.Hope this helps. Bennie

Re: Big reds  (N/A)

Hye Jeff ,, yea Perdio pass is where Fl and AL and the Gulf  all meet, .   I am sorry but you have been catching way too many Big Permits  to be qualified to catch bulls ........ thats the cake and eating it thingy.... Seriously the NE boys will have ot help you out with your quest..... usually the bulls have a gahtering around the inlets in the late fall and early winter.  When i target them ,, I fish in Al  so I can keep some big ones to eat..... I like the big ones more that the slots... they have a better texture to their meat.
