Re: lures/rigs?  (N/A)

Thanks, that's good info on Apollo Beach.  I think I might give it a try tomorrow.

I've tried in lot 1 a couple of times and I've never had a lot of luck.  I think I'm gonna go all the way down to lot 5 this time.

Tim, Enjoy your stay. I just got back from fishing Canaveral lot #4. Caught a couple of whiting in the am. I did catch a 14" pompano just before leaving on a blue crab knuckle. but... other than that fishing was slow. The beach was nice though. Cool, Crystal clear water.

Oh and by the way, On Thursday there is going to be a seafood festival on Flagler Avenue. All restaurants/bars will be participating check it out should be fun. It usually draws alot of people. T.

Re: lures/rigs?  (N/A)

Thanks everybody for your help...had a great stay in y'alls part of the world...little hot down there...but very beautiful! My fishing report: I caught nothing from the beach at New Smyrna...usually hitting it the heat of the day...using live (really, semi-live shrimp)...3 mornings I went to Cape Caneveral, lot 5...seemed like a totally different beach down there...parts very much like I am use to fishing in the Outer Banks of NC...I would get there around 6:30...stay till about 9:30 or 10...each day I caught whiting in good numbers and nice sizes...I've caught bigger in NC and SC...also caught much smaller too! Caught 5 pomano...all legal size but one...all these fish were caught on shrimp that I bought at food lion...not frozen, but still in the shell/headless...and the big surprise, and really what I set out to do, I caught 3 spanish mackerals on metal...there is a lure that is used in NC specifically for blues and spanish called a glass minnow lure...I have a ton of them...naturally,,,I didn't bring ONE of them with me! (stupid!!!) I did bring some good old fashioned hopkins spoons though...and the spanish hit them early morning in that beautiful clear water you guys have...all fish we returned to the ocean unharmed...I didn't have a cooler or anyway to keep them so I mashed down the barbs on my hooks and everyone of them swam off...all in all a great first time visit...I definitely want to come back when there are reds around...saw a sign at a restaurant I ate at that said it was "Red Fish Capital of the World". When do you guys catch drum from the beach btw?

Again, thanks to all that posted!

Tim
