TIm,

Not sure if they will be there in a few weeks, but I have it on good authority that the pompano are still in the Canaveral/New Smyrna area.  Several caught just a few days ago.  Like they said: double dropper loops, fresh shrimp (I buy live and let them expire in my cooler), clams and sandfleas all work well.

Good luck!

Tim, You can definitely fish behind the Ocean Sands. Get out there early before beach goers get there (they love to swim where you are fishing even if there are miles of beach without a soul they will choose to swim under your lines) This beach is a low impact beach. Its flat with 2 sandbars about 25 yds apart. I have the best luck before and after low tide. fish the first trough and you will catch fish. If you have more than one rod place your baits in different locations. There are still some pompano being caught. I think that its because we have had a cold upwelling lately. 100 degrees on the beach. 75-78 degrees in the water. which is very cold for this time of year. ...and da pomps like this temp.... Anyway, there are 2 bait shops near you. Depending on where I am going fishing I go to the one closest to the spot as I like both shops and the people are great.

To the west of you is Cecil's located west of the north causeway 197 N. Causeway, NSB, Fl.32168.

To the south of you and on the way to Bethune Beach 5mi and Canaveral Seashore is Southern Cross Bait and Tackle On A1A just north of CNS.

I recommend taking a morning/day and going down to Canaveral National Seashore. The beach is alot different than behind your condo. It is a high impact beach(steep) and the sand is mostly shell. I've caught the biggest selection of fish here. There are 5 parking areas. Lot 1 and 5 have ramps. the others have stairs only. Take water, cooler, etc... there are portable toilets only.... no water

It is a beautiful beach though.

Re: lures/rigs?  (N/A)

Ramps (Parking lot #s) 1-5 are stairs to the beach, not ramps.  Windy creek on down  to end (north from titusville   and the south entrance are ramps all the way down to the beach if you fish with a cart.  check out dixie crossings for great local seafood.

Hope this helps,

Curtis

I hope there's a fish under all your casts.

Here's some more info.....  I was just refering to Apollo beach which is just 7 miles south of the condo in which you are staying. It is considered Canaveral north. Drive south on A1A until you can't drive any further. Sorry for any confusion.... Terry
