You know,  3 years ago I would buy fresh shrimp at $8 a pound and take them home for dinner.

2 years ago I started buying fresh shrimp at $8 a pound to use as bait to bring home 8” whiting for dinner

Now I’m buying fresh shrimp at $8 a pound to catch 8” whiting to use for bait to try to catch big redfish or sharks ... and I'm using much more expensive equipement to do it ...

I can't wait until next year ...

I love this sport ...   :-)

Roger,

Everyone on the board knows this and is probably doing the same thing.  Don't you think it is better if we keep  this to ourselves?

You forgot to mention the added gas to the list.

There are those of us who stay out all hours of the night throwing a cast net to catch the shrimp to use at sunrise on the beach to catch the 8 inch whiting to hook the red or shark that takes our $ 8 leader 80% of the time then as we spend an afternoon with the dermatologist reminisce on rush as he takes whatever money we have left in our pocket then go and search out more equipment so we can do it all again next week.

We either realy love it or have completly lost our minds...... by wife says it is a little of both but my boss thinks its more of the latter.

Sometimes life requires you just say.....Foget It, I'm Going Fishing.....I just wish I could more often.

Roger, like so many things we do or spend our money on "it's all a bundle of satisfactions"!

It's a tough sport, but somebody's got to step up to the plate and git-r-done ...

Mind you I wasn't complaining as I enjoy every minute wether I catch a fish or bring home dinner or not ...  Jeff mentions the "bundle of satisfaction"  he's right on. I don't think twice about the gas , the new tackle,  loosing a leader every now and then ... in fact there's a few leaders that come to mind that we would be better off loosing  but won't go there, that causes stress and stress requires more fishing time to releive the stress...

The old proverb sums it up ... Give a man a fish and he will eat for one day. Teach a man to fish and he will be gone every weekend before sunrise, start telling lies and drinking beer, smoking cheap cigars, and spend all his money of bait and tackle ...

See ya'll on the beach.
