When this all came about the idea was to make the permit a gamefish.I think the suggestion was from a small group of the fly fisherman guides down in the Fla Keys.It was shot down in the workshops as was the catch and release idea.I never did hear what they decided about making the Federal Regs like the state regs.

So far, this is one of those rare cases where they didn't take a fish away from us.

Really good info, THANKS for posting!  :-)

I read the whole report...  IMHO, the plan going forward looks good, I hope it stays the course.

I was fearful of an impact for recreational surf & kayak fishermen, but looks OK for us    ..... (at least for now).

I agree as long as they stay the course of the past meetings. I would't even mind if they lowered the overall bag limits as long as the percentages were the same for the the commercial intrests as they are for the recreational and do not excede 20%. While the Afracan Pompano is completely different . Pompano or pemit would be too hard to distiguish for the average fisherman to split the regs until they get big so I stand against the tag concept with the exception of those fish over about 2o inches

Duck and Cover I forsee incoming!!!!!!

Question,  knowing that you have taken some good size permit, how are the larger ones as table fare?
