Rick, the Publix on the Island is charging $9.99/pound.

Suellen, get your sinkers from FishinMortician.

Jim, my wife and I do most of the shopping together...and I do most of the cooking.  Call it my other hobby.  So I keep an eye on prices.

It looks like finding sand fleas will become not just a "know how to" but a "must do before" my first hobby, i.e. catching fish.

And no, I wasn't asleep when I picked up a bar of Dial soap a couple of years back and noticed that the bar had been reshaped.  Ergonomically improved and reshaped to fit the hand (curiously same size in area, smaller in volume ; same cost).

So I just need to accept the fact that market controls are beyond my grasp.

9.99 a pound, looks like I'll be salting shrimp and bringing them again this year. I have had luck with Maine shrimp but we tried the Maine Clams and they didn't do very good.

Thanks for the tip, Oscar.  I need to buy a few of Paul's sinkers, but I won't be throwing them in the ocean, they are too pretty.

Paul, if you are listening I'd like a Gator Sinker and a Dead Sandflea.  I'll pick them up at the Club Tourney.

Localy, We are paying 4.50 / #  for river shrimp that are feshenough that if you are there early a few will still be flipping around.

retailers will charge whatever you are wiling to pay and while many on here seem to not realy care what the cost is, there are those who have or are learning how to bring the cost down by applying some extra effort.

Some things to think about for those who are local,

Shrimp are running now, Shrimp are running heavy, Fuel prices are down from the last 2 years and a castnet costs about $30.

The closer you get to the sea the higher the price for bait

If you continue to buy bait at the same place at higher prices then they will continue to raise the price.

When the shrimp are not running localy then you only think your buying it fresh unless you are buying it live.

The only ones making any money on the out of season shrimp, be it dead or live, are the importers so realy not much help to local economy.

Sometimes life requires you just say.....Foget It, I'm Going Fishing.....I just wish I could more often.

I am right on the coast, so can usually use a castnet to catch what bait that I use. I didn't use salted clams until Steve and Lyndon came over here.

I mainly use jigs so don't worry about bait prices that much.

Chewing tobacco costs $8 a pack. I husband it very carefully because I'm frugal(cheap). Just a pinch between my teeth(what teeth?)and gum!

My name still doesn't appear in the 'On Line' thingy, but I'm watching you guys/gals to see what youre doing. lol!

Talked too fast! I did appear as Charlie in the Number 2 spot. Forgive me! C2
