There are thousands of oil rigs in the Gulf.
30 percent of the oil we use in this country comes from the Gulf drilling operations.
One E X P L O D E D and sank..... killing all the men onboard.
Surely BP planned all of this.
Personally I blame Obama. He didn't allow BP to burn the oil off as it came to the surface. They were doing it, but he stopped them. Interefered just enough to screw things up. Didn't offer a fix, just stopped them from implementing the plan. All he wanted out of it, was to punish the evil oil corporations, and make his lawyer friends rich. Create a crisis and reward his special interest groups....again.
If we let his lawyer friends sue BP till they go belly up, that will not stop oil drilling in the Gulf. China drills there, Russia drills there. Hell, if I was Iran I would want to drill a big hole and then go away and let the thing spew. We don't control those waters, because we don't own most of the Gulf.
This is sad, but inevitable I'm afraid. We are consumers and they are suppliers.
I might have to become a crappie fisherman. So I ain't real happy about all of this either. But I guarantee BP would rather be pumping that oil into our refineries.
Our only hope is to get the thing plugged, and that ain't gonna happen for a long time. It is going to get even sadder before it's done. The oil is swirling out there now, and soon will catch the current and make the turn and travel up the eastern seaboard to a beach near you. I will be mad, too.
BTW- I would have blamed Bush, but Obama owns that one.
BTW2- I still say we should drill in ANWAR where all that will happen is some caribou will get mad.
