I went to the bait shop this afternoon and picked up 2 packs of frozen clam.  I didn't blink when I paid $5.35.  After all, I've seen local shrimp up by a dollar a pound in the last week.

So you can imagine the look on my face when I open up the clam packages and there are only 2 clams in each pack.  Previously 3 were included in each package.

I know things have gone up, but this is beyond reason.

I will continue to support small businesses but I will now also devote more time to collecting sand fleas.

Has anybody else noticed any changes in bait costs?  I am curious about types of bait and increases over time.

And to add to this Oscar, I've never understood why you have to pay 6 dollars a pound for shrimp when the catch them right there in Mayport. Here in Maine during shrimping season you can get them for a dollar a pound.

Oscar, I noticed the cost of sputnik sinkers doubled when Bob's B&T moved across the street and their bait was higher, too.  As far as the clams go, I just load up at Strike Zone and keep my freezer stocked.  Haven't had to add to my supply lately.

Now Oscar,if you did the grocery shopping by yourself you would know it was bound to happen.

A couple years back when fuel prices were sky high, marketing didn't want to raise prices on goods and then have to lower them later as the fuel prices lowered. So, they decided to use the same box of 22oz of cereal and only put 19.5 oz in it.Over the next 12 months almost all grocery products did the same.Marketing got to raise the price and sell you less and not have to worry about dropping the price as fuel came down.
